The benefits of double glazed windows

Homes with single glazed windows are likely to be losing around 20% to 30% of the houses heat.

Here are some of the main advantages to getting double gazed windows in your home…

Keeps your home warmer

The main and probably most obvious reason to get double glazing installed is that it makes your home a lot warmer, they keep the cold out and the warm in. As mentioned previously, windows act as a main source of heat loss so it’s important to get the right insulation to ensure a cosy and happy home. Double glazing also allows the winter sun to shine through.

Reduces noise

Double glazing can actually reduce noise pollution by up to 60% so they’re an ideal investment if you’re living near a main road or have noisy neighbours. This also means you can be as loud as you want too, (to a reasonable extent) time to turn up the music!

Reduced heating bills

With the extra heat you are gaining from the double glazed windows there’s less need to have the heating on in the house. This is a great way to reduce household bills and save money. Although you’re having to spend money on the windows, it still works out that you make a small yearly saving, win!

Increased security

Double glazing makes your home more a lot more safe and secure. The additional sheet of glass makes the property harder to break into and will discourage intruders. It could ultimately save your home from being robbed. If the burglars were to persist and go ahead with the break in it would take them a lot longer to get in and there is a high chance they would get injured during the process.

Reduces interior fading

The suns UV rays can have a damaging effect on furniture in the home when shining through the windows. Double glazing reduces the amount of UV rays that get through and prevents discolouration and damage to your sofas, curtains and tables etc.
